Frequently asked questions

When and where can I be seen?

I am currently working both face to face and remotely.

If you would prefer to meet face to face;

Monday 9-1 and Tuesday 9-3 in King's Parade, Cambridge          https://www.8akp.com/

Thursday 8-1 in Mercers Row, Cambridge          https://www.cambridgecounsellingservice.co.uk/contact/

If you would prefer to meet remotely (usually by zoom), most of my online appointments are Monday 1-7pm and Wednesday 9-3. Please contact me to discuss other options if you are unable to meet at these times, as I occasionally have alternative times available.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies greatly from person to person depending on the difficulties they are experiencing, the goals agreed and the type of therapy used, and will be agreed following initial assessment. However, a typical course of therapy would be between 8 and 16 sessions.

How often will my therapy be?

This is something that would be agreed at an initial assessment. Sometimes I meet people weekly, whilst at other times we meet fortnightly or less frequently depending on what people are working on in between sessions.

What do sessions cost and how do I pay?

Please contact me to discuss the fees for initial assessment appointments and therapy sessions. Fees are paid by BACS on the day of the session.

Additional fees may apply for reports or letters requested. Please contact me if you would like to discuss fees for specific needs.

Will my health insurance cover my therapy?

I am registered with most major health insurance companies. You will need to get authorisation from them to start therapy and provide me with the relevant codes or numbers. Please contact me to discuss specific health insurers.

Health insurers will be invoiced after each session as agreed with individual insurers.  Please note that health insurers do not cover missed appointments, or those cancelled within 24 hours and so you will be charged in this instance.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

I understand that sometimes people’s plans change, and cancellations made by phone or e-mail more than 24 hours before the appointment time will not be charged for. Cancellations made after this time will be charged at the full rate.

I've read the website but I'm still not sure whether it's for me....

Please get in touch so that we can discuss your goals and any concerns further.
